When the weather warms up, we head out doors to soak up some good ol’ Vitamin D, get out the endless supply of energy all toddlers seem blessed with and make some memories. If you are anything like our family, you love to spend those hottest of summer days in the sun splashing in water of some sort. The issue is the damage that can be done doing some of those activities. This summer, we started out barefoot. Now I’m all about barefoot earthing, but we kept running into hazards along the way. Enter these amazing barefoot water shoes.
The local zoo has an AWESOME splashpad, but all the sunscreen slathered on kiddos rinses off and makes the surface so slippery that my kids spent as much time on their bums as they did their feet!
Our favorite walking trail runs along a creek, but the base is full of rocks that range from jagged to slippery with algae. Yay for learning lessons about the habitat and nature, boo for stability.
Our family boat is a BLAST and the kids love every second, but baking in the sun can cause the deck to get HOT. We don’t want burn toes ruining all our lake day memories.
All this to say, water shoes were required. I did some shopping around and asked some mama’s about their preferences before deciding on these beauties! My biggest desire was keeping with super flexible barefoot style shoes so we could still feel the world beneath our feet even while protected. Bridawn barefoot water shoes comes with a good thirty options in kid sizes, so it was super easy to find patterns my kids would adore.
My daughter loves everything about stars and starfish, so we chose those for her. The second I gave them to her, she started singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star which is her favorite song. At two and a half years old, we got the size 7/8 and they are a touch big so she will have some growing room and we might even be able to get a second season out of them! She is fully capable of putting them on and taking them off all by herself which gives her a lot of pride in being independent.
All mama’s know the song “Baby Shark,” right? My son is obsessed with all things shark. He has his shark jammies, shark swim suit, shark bedding and now his shark water shoes. They fit him well and he has no issue wearing him despite his sensory processing disorder. What more could a mama ask for?
Her own pair of course! Mine are Z-joyee unisex barefoot water shoes and my favorite color combination: purple and lime. They are super light weight, easy to put on, tighten and loosen to comfort and sooooo comfortable despite the long days and heavy wear. I even find myself slipping them on to make a quick run to the store because of their convenience and sleek appearance. Seriously, I love them.
However, like all mama’s tend to do, I took pictures of my kids exploring the world in their snazzy shoes and forgot my own pictures. Therefore, you get to see mine with a little bit of stubble on my un-vacuumed carpet. Sorry about that.
