Launched in 2018 as a source of education and encouragement for expectant young families, While Raising Arrows is a quickly growing collective of holistic wellness and natural birth stories.
- Are you an expectant mother wanting to learn more about natural birth?
- Are you a self-professed “birth junkie” and love reading positive birth stories?
- Is there a toddler or four clinging to your leg and hollering at the top of their lungs?
Momming is hard from the second we first discover we are pregnant until the day we die, but it is by far one of the most rewarding journeys we will ever travel. There are so many chapters in this chaotic adventure that is motherhood, but While Raising Arrows focuses on just those first three chapters: Pregnancy, Birth and Postpartum. If you want to be here, are in the midst of the journey or sigh in memory of those sweet young days, this website is for you. In our mix of updates you will find a plethora of encouraging birth stories from mothers who have experienced a wide range of birthing options, information about your choices in pregnancy and birth, parenting techniques, breastfeeding and general “how we survived” information. If you wish to tell your own birth story, please click here to learn how to submit it.
This site started as a resource for mothers wanting a fully natural, intervention free birth. It has been a passion of mine since I was a preteen and I have spent my teen years and adulthood researching the subject. Currently I offer services to my local area including a 6-week natural childbirth class, birth keeper services, photography from maternity through infant hood and postpartum assistance to further serve my community and provide much needed support like I had for my two home births (read their stories here and here).
Why are we called “While Raising Arrows”? The inspiration comes from Psalms 127:3-5 which reads: “Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.” I fully believe that each and every child is a blessing given by God to be treasured. The bible calls our children our “arrows” and I want this blog to show motherhood through the lens of raising our little arrows to prepare them to be launched into the world as successful people.
